The
Binocular Night Vision Device (BNVD) is a Dual Tube Night Vision
Goggle/Monocular which offers outstanding depth perception and supportability
at an affordable price. Never before could you utilize the depth perception of
a collimated dual tube goggle and the convenience of a monocular in one system
without switching equipment.
The BNVD can be used as a monocular by choosing which side you want to use as your night vision eye and rotate the other side/arm of the binocular up and out of the way. Each arm is tight enough so that the rotated arm will not fall down, but stay in its user adjusted position. To use as a binocular, rotate both sides down or when night vision is no longer needed, shut off and rotate both sides up and out of the way.
The BNVD is relatively small and lightweight and can be worn comfortably for extended periods of time. When not in use and rotated upright it should not interfere with anything above the user’s head. This reduces risk of damage to the goggle and mount from rapid vehicle exits. With this flexibility there are endless possibilities and combinations.
The BNVD utilizes readily accessible MILSPEC accessories and optics. It includes a Headmount Assembly and other Helmet Mounting options are the same as for the AN/PVS-7D, AN/PVS-14, AN/PVS-7A/C, AN/PVS-15 and AN/PVS-18. Optional ANVIS mount are also available, however the BNVD is not approved for aviation use. Switching from one mounting system to another can be accomplished by the end user within minutes.
Designed to operate during
vehicle operation, assault missions, and amphibious operations.
There are multiple helmet mount options.
Like the military AN/PVS-15, the BNVD's are used to gain the advantage at night without sacrificing space and creating neck strain. Significant design improvements, such as single battery operation and submersion to 66', increases situational awareness, improves system performance and enhances ergonomic characteristics.
Other features include High-Light Cutoff and Automatic Brightness Control (ABC) to help protect the tubes and optimize the viewing image. On the Dual-Gain (each side can be adjusted separately) and Single-Gain (one adjustment for both sides) models, a built-in IR illuminator, familiar to the PVS-14's and PVS-7's group of NVG's, helps keep dark alleys, caves, rooms with no windows, and other low-light surroundings from requiring additional lighting equipment.
Optional 3X Magnifier Lenses greatly enhance your long range capabilities, although narrowing your Field-of-View. Perfect for Night Surveillance, Covert Tracking, and Search & Rescue Operations.
The BNVD provides crisp, clear images under the darkest conditions, utilizing the most advanced Mil. Spec. housing, this system is built to handle the toughest of environments.
