CAGE: 36BD2 DUNS: 105547512 EIN: 04-3601737 The SFOV4 SpecterOS4X is a revolutionary optical design that offers precision fire ranged combat features into a single, low profile Single Field-Of-View (SFOV) sight. The sight is covered with a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. SpecterOS with its Single-Role capability, comes with an integrated LED that illuminates just the center and lets officers move safely through buildings or confined areas. The reticle itself also has 5 Red LED illumination settings, 2 are NV compatible. Attached onto a Mil-Std-1913 Picatinny base with A.R.M.S. throw lever mounts, zeroing is incorporated in the integral mount. The SpecterOS sight has a Single Field-of-View which incorporates an LED illuminated reticle. This feature provides the shooter with a "both eyes open", extremely fast target acquisition, close combat sight that is necessary in modern urban warfare. The 4X Magnified sight provides long-range target identification and precision marksmanship capability out to 800 meters using a bullet drop compensation reticle.
The SpecterOS4 and a Clip-on Sight are a great combination for day and night operations. In addition to the day operation benefits, the SpecterOS allows you to achieve the full benefits of the Clip-On Night Vision Device (CNVD) strategy. Operators are vulnerable when they are switching between optics and the act of switching also always carries the risk of impairing bore sight accuracy. Using a CNVD eliminates the need to switch between a day optic and a night vision sight since the CNVD simply Clips-On in front of the day optic. Images shown are with the DFOV14 sights. |

Factory Message: ELCAN does not make a scope with a collector in mind. Every single scope that we sell goes through a battery of MIL performance tests and unfortunately sometimes this causes some marks that are touched up as best they can be prior to final acceptance. In addition, the materials that are used are not all uniform as they are selected based on material requirements and then need to be Class III hard anodized which is not the good looking anodize, but the hard surface that is nearly impossible to color match. We can only please those that need superior optical performance that meets MILSPEC environmental requirements."

This bright, high resolution 4-power optic provides long-range target identification and precision marksmanship capability out to 800 meters. The ELCAN SpecterOS4x is a rugged lightweight optical day sight (LDS) designed for 5.56 NATO Carbines and utilizes the superior optics and mechanics of the commercially available ELCAN SpecterDR. The ELCAN SpecterOS4x is a fixed 4X magnification optical sight with a large exit pupil and long 70mm eye relief. Superior situational awareness is achieved due to the ultra wide viewing angle and unmatched viewing in low-light conditions. The sight is fitted with an illuminated reticle that attracts the eye to the aim point of the sight.
SFOV4-A1 & C1 SpecterOS4X (5.56x45mm) is calibrated w/NATO M855 (62gr) on a 16" M4 Barrel SpecterOS comes with an integrated LED that illuminates just the center in Red Dot (6 MOA) 4X Magnification, illuminating the crosshair for long range, low light use to accurately engage enemies. The reticle itself also has 5 Red LED illumination settings, 2 are NV compatible. The ballistic reticle provides aiming marks for various extended ranges. Most ranges are labeled beside the aiming mark. The main horizontal line is intended to provide a reference to the marksman, which coincides with the 100 meter aiming point. This is the range you zero the sight to. Once in a while, the question comes up about why the reticle isn't illuminated across the entire crosshair and here is ELCANs official reply to it. It's totally normal; the reason it doesnt show completely across the vertical axis, or uneven in some cases, is because of the dual illumination feature, (the center dot and the cross hairs illuminating independently) the reticle is never illuminated fully across the entire crosshair with the single source of light. It's typical behavior The DR has the dual illumination feature (dot or reticle) which is unique in the industry. One of the design aspects of this feature is a non-centered illumination of the reticle which gives these sorts of artifacts. The reticle is etched into the glass and is visible during the day regardless of the illumination setting. If you need to illuminate the reticle to enhance your targeting, its because the outside lighting is subdued. When viewed at night in conjunction with Night Vision or used at Dusk/Dawn or even in an overcast environment, an illumination of the entire reticle would be overkill and detrimental to the target area because it would wash out what you want (need) to see. Id also like to point out that if the crosshair is too bright it could potentially damage your Night Vision Scope and interfere with your bodys natural Night Vision*. As the range increases, the size of your target area decreases, therefore the feathered edged illumination is an attribute, not a detriment. It would be like shining a flashlight at your face while trying to look outward into the dark. There is absolutely no reason to illuminate the outer edges of the reticle other that aesthetics. *Heres a paragraph taken from our website that describes your body's natural Night Vision. "Night Blindness" is caused by molecules called "Rhodopsin". The Rod of your eye undergoes a change in shape as it absorbs light. Rhodopsin is the chemical that allows natural Night-Vision, and is extremely sensitive. When exposed to a spectrum of light, the pigment immediately bleaches and takes about 30 minutes to regenerate fully, although most of the adaptation occurs within the first five or ten minutes in the dark. Rhodopsin in the human rods is less sensitive to the longer red wavelengths of light, so many people use red light to help preserve night vision as it only slowly depletes the eye's Rhodopsin stores in the rods and instead is viewed by the cones.
The Vertical Subtention Optical Rangefinder or VSOR on the SFOV4-C1 sight allows the marksman to estimate the distance to targets by matching the height of a known object within the Field-Of-View. The vertical distance for range estimation is 76 centimeters or 30 inches. By selecting the set of rangefinder lines that best fit the object, the marksman may read the correct range at the top of the rangefinder. Once the range is known, the marksman may engage targets at the range by aiming from the appropriate ballistic aiming mark in the reticle.

SpecterDR deployed to US Special Operations and Navy SealsDevelopment of the SpecterDR 1-4x: In 2003 the US SOCOM started to upgrade its fire control accessories for the M4 Carbine. The key technological objective for the day optic was to provide not only a long-range deliberate aiming capability, but also a short range, positive, rapid aiming capability for Close Quarters Battle in a single sight a critical issue in urban combat. Raytheon ELCAN Optical Technologies met this need by proposing and demonstrating the SpecterDR dual role rifle sight, a high performance switch-able 1x- 4x dual-field-of-view (DFOV) combat optic. Its potential established, Raytheon ELCAN incorporated user feedback driven spiral improvements that resulted in a series of design features that made the SpecterDR dual role combat sight match the operational needs of soldiers better than any competitive offering. Clever design and rigorous testing further optimized how the sight performed as a subsystem of the weapon. In full and open competition with 5 Operational Trials against alternative sighting solutions, the SpecterDR dual role weapon sight was awarded 100% of the SOPMOD production requirements. Users favored the SpecterDR dual role 9-to-1 over any competitive offerings while test data showed that it outperformed legacy solutions. By achieving the SOCOM objective, the SpecterDR dual role weapon sight has eliminated the need to switch between sights in-combat by combining for the war fighter a true unity (1.0X) power for both eyes open close combat, and 4X magnification for precision aiming combat in a single light weight package. In addition to the day operation benefits, the SpecterDR dual role combat sight has also allowed SOCOM to achieve the full benefits of its Clip-On Night Vision Device (CNVD) strategy. Operators are vulnerable when they are switching between optics and the act of switching also always carries the risk of impairing bore sight accuracy. Using a CNVD eliminates the need to switch between a day optic and a night vision sight since the CNVD simply clips-on in front of the day optic. With the SpecterDR dual role weapon sight, operators now never need to switch between optics and they never have to second guess about their weapon system accuracy. SpecterDR is given the designation SU-230/PVS in the SOPMOD Block 2 kit. As an integrated component of the next generation of advanced observation and civil defense requirements, the SU-230/PVS-C exemplifies the commitment to ongoing product development and optical excellence at ELCAN Optical Technologies. ELCAN is part of the Raytheon Commercial Electronics group of companies. In "High-Risk" security applications (Nuclear Plants, Oil Refineries and Pipelines, Water Treatment Plants, Port Authorities, Penitentiary Facilities), government law enforcement agencies can more effectively locate, identify and neutralize hostile threats with reduced risk. |
