   The Pegasus™2AA is a programmable infrared signaling beacon designed for use during low light operations. Powered by 2 common AA Batteries and Constructed from High Impact Plastics, the Pegasus 2AA has been engineered to withstand harsh environments and chemical exposure. This tremendous strength coupled with a watertight design make the Pegasus 2AA superbly suited for water to land deployment and special operations applications. Engineered as an enhancement of the Phoenix series of infrared beacons, the Pegasus series incorporates several encoding options within each Pegasus beacon.

Like the 9-Volt Pegasus2 (902215), the Pegasus™2AA has three user-selectable signal flash patterns; the first code pattern is a pre-programmed fixed flash rate code identical to the (Firefly) Phoenix Jr. (902111) NSN: 5855-01-438-4588, the second pre-programmed code pattern is a International Morse Code signal (S - O - S) and the third is installed as needed by the user in the field.

     The beacons signal is turned ON or OFF simply by "double clicking" the power button. This double click action prevents the beacon from being inadvertently activated or deactivated. Programming and flash pattern selection is carried out via the programming button located on the top of the unit. Miniature indicator lights within the device will flash the pattern as it is being recorded by the user to confirm the code being stored. During operation, the user can reactivate the miniature indicator lights at anytime allowing the user to visually confirm the broadcast code in situations where their own night vision equipment has become lost or damaged.

     Powered by 2 common AA batteries, Pegasus 2AA uses the most common power source available anywhere in the world. All components including the battery cover are positively integrated and attached to the beacon so there is nothing to lose during operations. The Pegasus 2AA can be attached to PALS webbing, belts, or uniform by using the supplied locking spring clips Engineered as an enhancement to the Phoenix series of infrared beacons, the Pegasus 2AA incorporates the features most sought after by today's soldier's.

     The Pegasus 2AA is used in conjunction with Night Vision Goggles (NVG's) and other Night Vision Devices (NVD's) at night as a covert position marker. Like the Phoenix Jr., the Pegasus 2 & Pegasus 2AA  was designed as a combat identification marker to minimize fratricide (the inadvertent killing of friendly forces, by friendly forces), and has been widely fielded by American and NATO coalition forces for combat identification. The beacon has many other uses in combat and covert operations for not only marking personnel, but vehicles, safe pathways, or locations. It incorporates a flash rate that was specified to prevent confusion with small arms-fire. Use the Pegasus 2AA to identify friendly force positions, demarcation lines or perimeters.

THE Pegasus™ 2AA OFFERS IMPROVED FEATURES

     The Pegasus™ 2AA has three channels;
2 factory installed codes and 1 for a user-installed eight-second code
The standard factory installed codes are:
Channel 1 - A constant flash rate similar to the (Firefly) Phoenix Junior (902111)
Channel 2 - International Morse Code signal S - O - S.
Channel changes and user-channel coding are accomplished by shorting the pins on the top of the beacon. A key feature is the nonvolatile memory, meaning the codes in all channels are retained when power is removed and reapplied. When power is reapplied, the Pegasus™ 2AA defaults to the last operating channel and code.
